WHY BECOME A OPEN WATER CANOE COACH(ADVANCED WATER)?

First of all, you will be joining a community of like minded individuals, keen to learn, develop and have fun whilst sharing their love of paddlesport. The Coach Award takes what you know and supports you through formal and informal development opportunities, part of your journey will involve an assessment, but the assessment isn’t the end as we believe in life long opportunities for learning.

The Coach Award is used by the self employed, clubs, centres and organisations as an appropriate level of training for coaches who develop individuals paddlesport knowledge and skills in advanced open water environments.

At assessment, candidates will be required to complete the following assessment tasks 

• Assessment Discussion Task
• Practical Coaching in force 5 wind
• Rescue Skills
• Personal Skills*
• Background Knowledge, Understanding and Experience

You must hold the following to proceed to assessment 

• In date First Aid Training
• Safeguarding training (as required by your Home Nation Association)
• Full home nation association membership - Paddle Uk on the water
• Aged 18 or over at the time of assessment

• Adavanced open water canoe leader

• Core coach training 2 day course or APL

• Advanced open water coach training or APL
