We always monitor conditions closely and prioritize safety. If we have to cancel, we’ll move the date or offer a full refund.

Are there assessments for SUP leadership?

Absolutely, we provide Sheltered Water SUP Leader training and assessments. These focus on leading groups safely on inland water.

Is mentorship available before my assessment?

Yes, we highly recommend mentored practice sessions. Darren provides expert feedback to ensure you are fully prepared for assessment.

Can I use these awards to work professionally?

Yes, these are nationally recognized professional qualifications. They are the industry standard for leading groups across the UK.

Do you provide equipment for the courses?

Yes, we have a limited range of high-quality kayaks, canoes, and SUPs available for Hire. However, at assessment level, we recommend using your own familiar kit to perform at your best.

What should I bring for a leadership course in Devon?

Bring your usual paddling gear, plenty of snacks, and a warm change of clothes. We provide a full kit list for all our Devon courses.

How far in advance should I book my assessment?

We recommend booking at least 4–6 weeks ahead. This gives you enough time to complete your registration and pre-course tasks.

Are course fees inclusive of Paddle UK certification fees?

Registration fees are paid directly to Paddle UK. Our course fees cover the expert coaching and certification.

Can I stay overnight near your Dartmoor base?

Yes, there are plenty of campsites and B&Bs in the Dartmoor area. We can recommend a few local spots near the River Dart.

Is there an age limit for leadership training?

Candidates must be at least 16 years old for most leadership awards. Some advanced awards may require you to be 18.

Do you offer first aid courses alongside leadership?

Yes, we often run First Aid and Safety & Rescue courses. Check our calendar to pair these with your leadership journey.

What is the difference between training and assessment?

Training is where you learn and practice new leadership skills. Assessment is the final step to prove your competence for the award.

Will I get feedback during the leadership training?

Absolutely, you will receive personalized developmental feedback throughout. We ensure you know exactly what to work on next.

Can I borrow a drysuit or paddle for the session?

We have a limited supply of technical apparel and paddles available to Hire. Please let us know your requirements when booking your course.
