Paddle UK Surf Kayaking Leadership Pathway
1. Surf Kayak Leader Training (Moderate Water)
Typically a 2-day practical course in moderate surf, this training bridges gaps in your skills. You’ll work on dynamic risk assessment, tactical positioning in the impact zone, venue selection for your group, and fast, effective rescues of capsized paddlers and swamped craft in breaking waves.
2. Surf Kayak Leader Assessment
A 1-day, on-the-water assessment where you lead 3–4 real students through a full surf day. Assessors look at your live decision-making, group management and risk control, not just your ability to follow a checklist.
