training will be over two days focussing on personal skills ,leadership
styles and structures on Grade 3/4/5 white water. T
A full detailed action plan during the course will assist in your personal development after your training course.
Successful
assessment after training at this level indicates that the paddlers can
consider themselves white water leaders on Grade 3-5 white water. As
they can now lead on moving waters, they can do this in a competent
manner and have the knowledge and ability to run a trip down a Grade 3-5 river.

Day 1
AM – Personal skills sessions on a section of Grade 3-4 white water PM – Leadership skills sessions based on a section of grade 3-4 white water using CLAP and other leadership structures
Day 2
AM –
This day covers more leadership aspects of the 5 star award and the use
of rescue skills and rapid setups as a leader of a group on Grade 3-5
white water.

Notice: From 1st July 2009 all candidates (living in England) wishing
to attend a BCU 4 or 5 Star Leader Assessment are required to register
with Canoe England prior to their assessment Using a LR form. Candidates should allow two weeks to complete the registration process

The Advanced WWS&R training course is
designed for all paddlers operating in advanced white water environments. In
addition, the training is required for those seeking their 5 star leader
(white water) award..
Course Aims:
- To improve individuals awareness of safety skills in the advanced river environment
- To further develop personal survival skills
- To develop and practice advanced rescue techniques
- To develop and practice the need for structure in advanced emergency situations
- To outline advanced rescue protocols that prioritise the safety of the individual above all others
